I can not say what i would use this for when it first got it, It sure is one that will make others scratch their heads in amusement. If your wanting to see the mechanics of it this is definitely for you. Hopefully you never use this skill for evil yet we have seen this done in numerous different ways beyond MacGyver.  I just enjoy it as it is since thankfully it came with a back up key so i can not lock myself out. It sure isn't flimsy also which i wasn't sure on when i first saw this either, thankfully it has some weight to it. The kids get a giggle out of it like its a magic trick and they learn at the same time as they play very educational....
